GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)
What is GMAT?
The Graduate Management Aptitude Test or GMAT is a computerised  test in English and Mathematics to check skills and aptitude of  candidates seeking admission in business schools of English speaking  countries. GMAT is administered and conducted by Graduate Management  Admission Council (GMAC).  Studies show that this test is the best  indicator for success in such programs, and as a result about 4000  programmes in 1800 graduate schools around the world use this test for  admission decisions.
Commencement of GMAT
GMAT exam is conducted round the year and on demand. A candidate can take GMAT exam 5 times in year but once in a month.
Eligibility Criteria for GMAT
A candidate must have a graduation degree from a recognised  university or college. There is no minimum age requirement for appearing  in GMAT exam but candidates below 18 years of age are required to  submit a written GMAT form signed by their parents or guardians.

- Online Registration: Candidates are required to register and complete details on official website of GMAT (mba.com). The test fee can be paid through credit or debit card.
- By Phone:Candidates can schedule GMAT test  appointment by calling VUE Customer Centre from Monday to Friday. The  test fee can be paid through credit or debit card. Candidates should  call the customer service in the region of their choice at least three  days before the exam:- - USA

- By Fax: Candidates can download and print GMAT Appointment Scheduling form and fax it to VUE customer care centre of their region. Test fee can be paid through credit or debit card. Candidates should send fax atleast seven days before the test date.

Candidates should send their form with the test fee three weeks before test date.
Fee Structure
Fee for GMAT exam is US$ 250 (Rs. 11750) globally. In some countries taxes are incurred on fee for the GMAT exam. 
$50 is charged for re scheduling your GMAT exam dates.
Format of Exam
The three and a half hours GMAT exam consists of three sections:
- Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)- This section  of test checks a candidate’s reasoning and analytical skills through two  essays. This section is for 60 minutes. There are two parts in this  section: - Analysis of an Issue (30 mins)
- Analysis of an Argument (30 mins)
 
- Quantitative Section – This section of 75 minutes is to check a candidate’s problem solving and data sufficiency skills. There are 37 multiple choice questions in this section.
- Verbal Section – This section of 75 minutes is to check a candidate’s reading, critical reasoning and sentence correction abilities. There are 41 multiple choice questions in this section.
Candidates can take five minutes break between every section.
Scoring Pattern
The total score for GMAT which is the combination of quantitative  and verbal section are scored on the scale of 200 – 800. Apart from  total score, there are separate scores for all three sections:-
- Verbal Section – Scored on the scale of 0-60
- Quantitative Section – Scored on the scale of 0-60
- Analytical writing Assessment (AWA) – Scored on the scale of 0-6
The score of AWA is not included in total score of GMAT. The score  AWA is mailed to you after two weeks of taking the test.For seeking  admission in B-school, a score of 700 and above is considered good. The  GMAT score is valid for five years.
How to Prepare?
Candidates can prepare for GMAT exam by downloading GMAT Prep  Software, test papers, GMAT Write Tool and by ordering GMAT Prep Books  Pack from official website of GMAT (www.mba.com). Generally, students  start preparing three to six months before the test date.   .
